One of the best things about our jobs in the Keep America Beautiful affiliate network is the positive energy that flows from the work we do. In a time where disagreement and discourse rule, there is no better reminder of how we can all just get along than to conduct a community cleanup.

The Great American Cleanup/Trash-Off is in full swing with events scheduled statewide every weekend through May and beyond. When volunteers show up to help, they bring their best “can do” attitude and ask nothing in return.

Keep Florida Beautiful  recently partnered with Keep Tallahassee Beautiful to clean up a local park, a nearby running trail and adjacent water bodies. Gulf Winds Track Club was also a partner and brought volunteers plus a one-mile fun run. The Boys & Girls Club of the Big Bend brought volunteers, runners and more cuteness than you ever dreamed possible!

Having a chance to interact with youthful volunteers and to spread a little advice about how to take care of the world we live in  was another good reminder of why we do the jobs we do. You can read more about this event in the track club's newsletter.

As special as this was, keep in mind it is only one event among the hundreds of cleanups and beautification projects that are taking place around the state. Our mission to inspire, educate and empower people in Florida to take action every day to improve and beautify their community environments is being fulfilled.

Sincerely,
Mary Jean Yon, Executive Director
